CASTIGLION FIORENTINO
Of Etruscan-Roman origin, Castiglion Fiorentino preserves almost intact the medieval city walls that showcase the Cassero. The town’s Art Gallery houses precious jewelry dating to the 13th Century and important paintings by Margarito, Taddeo Gaddi, Bartolomeo della Gatta and Giorgio Vasari. The historic archway in front of the town hall is like a natural balcony from which one can admire the Valley of Chio, a picturesque link between the Valdichiana and the Valtiberina. An appointment with culture, sports, music and wine tasting is in spring with the festivities of Maggio Castiglionese.

CORTONA ( 15 Km )
Situated on a hill, at a height of 600 meters, Cortona is one of the most ancient Etruscan city. The Basilica of Saint Margeret and the Franciscan Sanctuary “Le Celle” invite the tourist to discover upper Cortona offering an itinerary of art and faith only a few steps from the historical city center. Other must see sites are the new museum, Accademia Etrusca, who inaugurated its new collections in September 2005 and the Museo Diocesano that houses important masterpieces of local artists such as Luca Signorelli and one of the most beautiful Annunciation of Beato Angelico.

Its origins are Etruscan and theorized to have been a hub to the 12 Etruscan tombs.
